Democracy A Responsibility: Part 1

Smiling woman with curly hair posing with a lightbox sign that reads 'Make Your Choice' against a blue background.

“Take Very good care of your finances. Your Finances are your responsibilities. We can only suggest and guide in your way. Be serious about your finances. Foreign economies are ‘spending’ economies; but Indian economy is ‘saving’ economy”

We all know the meaning of democracy but in limited and selfish scope. Undoubtedly democracy is good, but discipline should back that up. Disciplined democracy is the greatest of all living lifestyles. Responsibilities, Patriotism, country and discipline are the four pillars of democracy. Even if one rotten pillar often turns democracy into arbitrary behaviour that harms the majority. Democracy does not mean behaving arbitrarily and capriciously. While being arbitrariness, every individual must follow certain rules. Otherwise, your behaviour becomes communal and selfish. What we believe is what goes along from you comes back to you.

Even if we consider that no god is watching us, rules are meant to live a better life. Democracy with responsibility is a powerful technique for a better civilisation. Democracy has no meaning if one feels that, ‘if ‘this’ is democracy then ‘communism’ is better’. I think, if we all take care of our responsibilities well and behave in accordance, then that is real democracy. It is just like in your job how do you take the responsibilities and perform your duties and earn a better life, similar is the life case.

Democracy is the prize of the prices paid by our ancestors, who always dreamt of a better world and hardly got it. Concerning those old memories and historical events, we must enjoy democracy with responsibilities.

When I say democracy is a responsibility, there are several duties for us to perform. Let’s see them one by one. If I could not mention particular responsibilities that does not mean, we should ignore it.

All this is true but, politicians influence people and push them to disregard democracy for an obvious political reason. Such politicians can go to any extent to unstable the ruling government. All this is politically motivated. However, being in a democracy the people should understand what’s right.

Refrain from spitting, dusting, throwing garbage,

Trash-filled streets with vibrant urban buildings in Bangladesh.

When you belong to any country, that country becomes your homeland or motherland. It becomes your house. Even if you do not belong to that country but stay there to earn; that becomes your feeder country. Like mother is the feeder, that country automatically becomes your mother.

Now question yourself, will you spit or throw garbage on your mother? Will you spread dirt all over the face and body of your mother? If your answer is ‘yes’, then this earth is not for you. If your answer is ‘no’, then try to keep your country clean.

You don’t have to clean the country physically. Only you stop throwing garbage and stop spitting. If each person follows this, the country will be clean in no time.

Now, some cunning people will give excuses, and I will counter them like –

  1. They are only throwing bio-degradable garbage. Counterattack – They forget it looks dirty and attracts insects, mosquitos, mice and other deadly animals.
  2. No one can teach them. Counterattack – I would say, your mom-dad should have slapped you when you said this the first time and your teachers (if you attended any class ever) should have punished you hard.
  3. Many people are doing it, go and tell them. Counterattack – Others are eating shit, will you too?
  4. Government’s duty to clean it. Counterattack – If the government perform its other duties too, it will be hard for you to survive, is that ok? Finally, the government is also doing it at the cost of your taxes.
  5. What would they do if there were no dustbins? Counterattack – You can carry it until you find a dustbin, right?

Standing up for the National Anthem

baseball team, national anthem, pregame

Everyone must obey and respect the nation and its national anthem, irrespective of religion, faith, ethnicity, working area etc. We can term the Individuals terrorists or treason who do not respect the national anthem.

When visiting other countries whose laws are stringent, the same individuals cowardly follow the rules of those nations. Why? Scared? Isn’t your “so-called” reason above any country’s respect? Fearing of death penalties or imprisonment? Poor cowards.

No religion, race, business etc. is above the nation and its law. No one can give reasons like ‘democracy’ or ‘freedom’. If being countrymen we fail to respect ourselves, how will the other nations respect us? They will only joke about our sovereignty.

Governments, fail to punish hard such cowards the first time, then these cowards will dare to do it for the rest of their lives. No countrymen will want such terrorists in their country.

Even if you are a guest in the country, it is your duty and responsibility to obey the laws of that country. It is your duty to pay respect to the national anthem and other national rituals strictly.

For any reason, you cannot pay respect to the national anthem, leave to that country that will tolerate your tantrums. And only then will you find that no country will admit you for this reason.

If you are saying that, because of democracy and freedom, you will do whatever you want and pay hardly any respect to the national anthem, then I would say you visit China. China is tracking every move of its countrymen and visitors and the punishments are so hard, that you may wonder why you disrespected national pride. Then you will respect every country and its national anthem going forward. Change your mind and respect every pride of your country.

No Religion is above the Nation, its law and its constitution

Do not mess with religion and nationality. Religion is something you worship; nation is something that protects your worship. Protector is always in place of God. Some of the reasons you worship is, that the god should protect you from devils, sins, unforeseen events, diseases, outsider threats, your businesses and jobs, your kids etc. It is the country that protects all of these and so it is at the place of God. You probably haven’t seen God physically but he is present in the form of nature and nation.

It is not religion that allows you to be in the country but it is the nation that allows you to worship any god of your choice. I can bet that no religious book can save you from all the above-mentioned requirements you have from God. It is the country that will protect all the things including your religious book. History witnesses when Alauddin Khilji a terror attacker and invader in India, burnt the Nalanda University. All the books were burnt and the people who had those books in mind were killed so that the same knowledge could not be created again. Even religious books were there. But no book could save anything.

God forbid, but if someone puts a gun on your forehead; the government may help you; but not a religious book. God will punish the sin in his ways. One of the visible ways of God’s punishment is the law of that country. God has created the world, the countries and the laws so a country becomes next to God. God is important not religion, because God is one but religions are several. Everything is created by God and supported and protected by the country.

Laws are created with certain intentions such as to protect, foster, boost or to reduce, abrogate, eliminate, or to enhance, improve, or increase something. Examples –

  1. Protect minorities, tribes, monuments, historical places, communities, religions, people etc.
  2. Foster subsidies, pilgrimage, industrial and farming outputs etc.
  3. Boost economic growth, industries, jobs, healthy sentiments etc.
  4. Reduce debt, stress, poverty, unemployment etc.
  5. Abrogate unnecessary laws, socio-economic ties with terrorist countries etc.
  6. Eliminate terrorism, national threats, dons, drug rackets etc.
  7. Enhance lifestyles, transport networks, job markets, markets etc.
  8. Improve the quality of life of people, laws etc.
  9. Increase GDP, per capita income, employment etc.

If you are treating religion above the country then remember religion can be changed, the country remains forever, even if you leave it or die.

Respect others’ point of view

In politics and normal life, there is nothing right or wrong. The results or outcomes vary as per the behaviour and thinking. The great thing god has done in the world is the difference of opinion. Without the difference of opinion, no share market will exist, and no industry or jobs will exist. If everyone thinks in the same direction imagine the chaos in the world. If one country is producing defense equipment others will make something else. When there are differences of opinion the needs will be different, and only then the business will exist.

If you are trying to impose your opinion on others, it is the murder of the democracy. If you are convincing your opinion and if others disagree, you keep trying; but cannot force it. Otherwise, democracy won’t exist. As I mentioned above, nothing is right or wrong and the result of the action will show what should have been done. For example, smoking kills, but even though companies sell it and people smoke. Only the result will let them know what happens to their health.

Even an Assembly has an opposition party. No one will question the ruling party, otherwise. No one will bring anything to the attention of the government. The government will make such decisions in Favour of one community that others will suffer deeply.

We don’t have a choice of disrespecting other’s opinions. Otherwise, it won’t be termed as a democracy. However, you can criticize other’s opinions politely with respect along with proof; that is your right. Uttering rubbish is not your right because we all have to respect others. Nowadays we see on various news channels, that politicians exchange heated words. Common people follow that in their lives.

The best way to respond to any political agenda is to vote against or in favour of that political party. You select that party whose thoughts resemble your thoughts. Once your party is elected, it will automatically try to play your thoughts.

Resolution

To manage democracy well, some of the resolutions are as follows-

  1. School and College Education – The education system compulsorily should include the education to be a patriotic, responsible person.
  2. Parents Teaching – Best teaching is parent’s teaching. Children imitate their parents from birth. If all the parents become responsible and teach patriotism and basic manners along with other good education, this will make a lifetime impact on the kids.
  3. Strict Laws – The law should be strict enough that no one can dare even oppose responsibilities in the democracy.
  4. Heavy Penalties and other actions – The government has to proactively pick such criminals and punish them with heavy monetary fines or imprisonment or both.

Conclusion

Patriotism has to be there in your blood. It can be grown from childhood only. If you truly love your country, by default you must already be following the above points. Suppose,, even by mistake you were not following it, you may follow it now.

And if any of us do not feel like following any of the above points, you are still away from enjoying better democracy and lack patriotism.

If you are purposely doing so, then probably you intend to break the financial conditions of the country. That also means that you probably want to break the country.

In the second part, we will see other responsibilities we must follow in democracy.

You may find the blog harsh but that is the reality. Many people in every country want to break it through such nonsensical acts. Comment below what will you do if you find such a person. Please also like and share the blog
